Whole again#
Philippe took Mara to the fitting room. Unlike her first fitting three years ago, when she had felt dread, this time she was filled with anticipation. The old passive belt she wore on the way there felt like a relic, a temporary substitute for the real thing. She was dressed in proper clothing again—a soft blouse, a skirt. Underneath, her corset, a Yoyah Sheengzoh and her ballet boots shaped and held her. She was masked and felt comforted by the gag that filled her mouth, but it was the thought of what awaited her that gave her a sense of relief.
The technician began the fitting with practiced skill, guiding Mara through a new 3D scan to update her measurements. The new iGuardian Pro Secure model was sleek, a significant upgrade from the one Mara had worn for years. The hip belt was secured first, circling her waist with a snugness that reassured her. As the inserts settled into place and the crotch strap was fastened, she felt a familiar sense of control returning. When the corset was tightened around her torso, its cups holding her firmly, the tension in her back began to ease. The pull of the shoulder braces and the neck corset corrected her posture, forcing her into the disciplined stance she had known for so long. It was a comfort, a return to something she could rely on.
As the belt activated, tightening to its daytime setting, Mara felt its embrace fully. The structure and discipline that had shaped her life for the last few years were back. The sensors and electrodes began their test patterns, and the belt came alive against her skin. She welcomed the subtle impulses, the ones she hadn’t even realized she missed until they were gone. The barely noticeable pulse in her neck corset that always pointed north—she was no longer feeling lost. The rhythmic signal from the hip belt that told her the direction and distance of Philippe’s cellphone—she was no longer feeling lonely.
The test patterns from the scheduler and guidance mode ran through the belt and her system, each one a reminder of the order that had been missing from her life. Even the sharp pain from the calibration impulses of discipline mode was welcome to her. As the subtle, almost subconscious, reward impulses between her legs activated, the dread and depression that had weighed on her since her kidnapping began to lift. The iGuardian had used these subtle rewards and their withdrawal to guide her behavior, creating a system of discipline that kept her in line long before any overt correction was necessary. Being without it had left her in a state of constant anxiety and slight depression, making her feel as if she was doing something wrong. But now she could finally feel joy again, knowing she was back where she belonged.
Philippe moved closer, fitting her new mask with the care of someone who knew how much this meant to her. The mask, custom-made from the fresh 3D scan, fit perfectly. The earplugs blocked out ambient noise, replacing it with a curated version of her surroundings. Real-time translation, Philippe’s voice-over, and simple orders from the system were all fed directly into her ears, making her feel connected to him in a way that went beyond the physical. Nose plugs with air filters threaded deeply into her nose, controlling and securing her air intake. The mask’s integrated Vision Pro displayed navigation over her path, callouts over recognized people, and could even provide a simulated drone-view of her surroundings synthesized from the belt’s many sensors. It added layers of information to her perception. It could edit what she saw, filter her environment, and ensure that she only focused on what Philippe deemed necessary.
Her new gloves, fitted with position sensors, allowed her to communicate through hand-dancing, which the iGuardian recognized and responded to. The system could synthesize a voice for her, one chosen by Philippe.
As she experimented with the functionality, feeling the electrodes gently pulse across her skin, Mara began to feel whole again. The numbness that had plagued her was fading, replaced by a growing sense of connection and control. She wasn’t just wearing the iGuardian; she was becoming a part of it once more. The pain and fear of the last few days started to recede, making room for her to begin healing, slowly but surely.
For the first time since her ordeal, Mara felt like herself again—disciplined, secure, and, most importantly, safe in Philippe’s care. As she stood there, encased in the familiar and advanced embrace of her new iGuardian Pro Secure, she knew she could start to heal, with Philippe by her side, guiding her every step of the way.
Turning to Philippe, her mouth finally filled again by a proper and civilized feed gag, Mara signed her happiness. Thank you, Sir. Philippe smiled and touched his phone. His synthesized voice came through her mask’s earplugs, commanding, “Follow me.” A green ring appeared around him, showing the area she had to stay within, with a wider yellow ring indicating where correction would begin if she didn’t follow. Philippe held out his arm, and Mara quickly tiptoed to him in her ballet boots, then hooked her arm into his.
Hanging onto his arm, her posture regal and perfect, with rapidly clicking heels, she glided beside him out of the store.
